Genre: HARDCORE / PUNK
Country of Origin: FINLAND
The phenomenon known as Finnish Hardcore recently turned 35 and sounds as furious and youthful as ever. Apart from the old guard such as Riistetyt and Kohu-63 who are still standing, there are a few more recent activists in the scene such as Kohti Tuhoa and Maailmanloppu, who are now about to drop their sophomore album.
It has always been an integral part of Finnish Hardcore to at some point in your career to draw in musical influence from elsewhere than punk and dabble in other genres too. Between the two albums, first one on Bad Hair Life / Kämäset Levyt in 2012 and this, their second one in 2018, Maailmanloppu have put out several 7 and 12 inch EPs on which they’ve explored more gothic and post-punk sounds, most recent example being the 7 inch split with Helsinki goth newcomers Rue Morgue, also on Svart in 2017.
The album Tuhon koodi, however, is full-on, no-holds-barred Scandinavian hardcore that never leaves its roots but manages to sound fresh. Produced by Ville Valavuo from Kohti Tuhoa and mastered at Audiosiege, Tuhon koodi is out on CD, LP and digital on April 13th.
